Today we were excited to learn we were going to climb a mountain. We ate a big breakfast and got on our walking boots. After John (our instructor) checked our bags to make sure we had all the necessary items, we got on a bus to the bottom of Walla crag. John even brought Beth his dog, who had so much fun with us. At first it was a bit hard climbing the steep part to Walla Crag but we supported each other all the way to the top. John was so impressed with us that he thought we could make it up an even bigger mountain called Bleaberry Fell. So as not to disappoint him we did! At the top we ate our packed lunch and prepared to start the journey back down after taking in the beautiful views. When we arrived at the bottom of the mountain in half the time we went on the ferry to bring us back home. We then ate a well deserved ice cream at the local shop before making our way back home. We had another lovely tea and went for a walk into Keswick, where we had fun playing on the play park before coming home to bed. We are so excited to see what John has got in store for us tomorrow.

Day 2. Cat and kitten bells
Today, after fantastic breakfast, we headed off in the mini bus towards kitten bells. With pack lunches in our rucksacks, sun tan lotion and hats on, we left the bus and headed towards kitten bells, after a short map reading course, navigating as we went along.
The weather was fab all day, and after climbing the higher peak (cat bells) we headed down towards the lake for our lunch.
In the afternoon we walked around the lake, collecting leaves and learning all about the different types of trees and plants that surrounded it.
We then jumped on the boat to make our way back to the centre.
To night, we are looking forward to playing lots of games at the park.
We can't wait for tomorrow's fantastic activities.

Day 1 at Derwent Hill
After we arrived in Derwent hill we all unpacked our suitcases, made our beds and met our instructor for the week. We filled our tummies with a packed lunch and our group ( group 6, Miss Wadge and Miss Beston's group) went down to the marina and jumped in! The water was very cold but it was lots of fun, we jumped in over and over again and even Miss Wadge and Miss Beston jumped in. After we showered and changed we filled our tummies again and went on a night walk. During the walk we thought about how Derwent hill was different from our home town. We listened to the sounds and talked about the different things we could see. After we arrived back we had some drinks and snack before going to bed. We can't wait for tomorrow.
Out and about at Derwent Hill.
We all arrived safely about 11.30 am and took our cases up to our dorms. After making our beds- yes we can do it- we had a lunch break and found out who our instructor was for the week.
We then went exploring around the grounds, down by the river and then on to the adventure playground. It was fab.
More to come after tomorrow's exciting day.

Day 4
Group 2
The children had another great day out and about hill walking around Burrowdale valley. We learned about the valley's mining history.
They climbed up to about 400 metres before sitting down at the summit and eating their packed lunch.
In the afternoon we made over way down to a secret cave where we learned bush craft skills. They used dry sticks, gathered on the way up, to make a fire using different fire lighting techniques. After lighting the fire, they toasted marshmallows and drank hot chocolate.
Day 4
Today the children have had a fantastic day climbing the mountain and learning all about the wildlife and plants around. We even managed to fit in time for an ice cream. We are all looking forward to the disco tonight.

Day 3
This morning the children went gorge walking, working as part of a team to guide and support each other to climb through the gorge to the top of the valley. The children climbed through a tunnel and plunged into the icy pools. Even the coldest the person in the world (Miss Wadge) jumped in.
In the afternoon we went on the infamous Death Swing. The children were extremely brave and the support they showed to each other to overcome their fear was brilliant. We are so proud of each and everyone who showed terrific courage, especially Ryan and Nathan.
Tonight we are all off for the Derwent night challenge and the children can't wait.
More updates tomorrow.
